Gearing Up for February
I trust you had a blessed Christmas and New Years, filled with joy, family, and gifts!
I wanted to update you on the church planting work taking place this month. While the work might not be “visible,” there is much happening this month. It still amazes me on the amount of behind-the-scenes administrative tasks that have to get done in order to get a church plant “off the ground.” I’m so thankful that I don’t have to work alone, as the council of Westside and other friends of the URC are lending their aid. Here are a few things happening this month, just to give you an idea:
Ordering supplies
Legal matters
Financial work
On-line presence
Service support
Please be in prayer for these important (albeit difficult) tasks. They are, however, truly labors of love knowing that these efforts are in service to proclaiming Christ each week in Northern Kentucky. To that end, set your calendars for February 4, at 6:00 PM (7804 Pleasant Valley Rd. Florence, KY 41042) when we will begin weekly, evening services in Florence, KY.
If you would, please help us to spread the word! Too often people of NKY are stuck to choose between legalistic Roman Catholicism or “cotton candy” Evangelicalism. The Reformed faith, by contrast, is historically rooted, theologically robust, and biblically grounded. Another thing I love about the Reformed faith is that it is sustainable with regard to practice and piety. We are not spiritual “storm chasers,” looking for the “next big thing” or an emotional high, but we are living out an ordinary rhythm centered on meeting with Christ through Word and Sacrament.
If you would like more information about Christ Reformed Church, the New Members’ Class would be a great place to start. Entering that class does not oblige you join our church, but it is a great way to learn more and to get acclimated to our church. Also, if you are interesting in joining the Core Group, we will be starting a NKY Fellowship Group (or “Small Group”) that will meet mid-week for the purposes of strengthening each other, growing together, learning about the Reformed faith, and catechizing our children.
